D.P. Dough

D.P. Dough is a pizza chain restaurant specializing in Calzones and other Italian food items. Personally, I have never been a Calzone person however D.P. Dough in Raleigh has changed my former ways! Every bite is packed with flavor and complimented with a nice toasty dough around all the toppings inside. This has definitely become a new comfort food of mine. The possibilities on the menu are absolutely endless and if you have a hard time choosing, you can even make your own! Take it from me, don’t completely rule out the idea of Calzones without trying this place first – you may just be surprised.

Tonbo Ramen

Cold weather calls for warm food preferably one with noodles and broth. Today’s recommendation satisfies that exact need. Open for Dine in (don’t forget to ask about the cocktail of the day), Takeout and Delivery, Tonbo Ramen in Downtown Raleigh has a variety of options when it comes to flavors. On my first visit here I was instantly hooked on the freshness and vibrant ingredients in each dish. Ironically I am not particularly a huge fan of ramen and have indulged in a number of other item menus and I have yet to get anything from Tonbo that I have not enjoyed.

My personal favorites have included the Gohan Bowl (Shredded pork glazed with spicy garlic ginger BBQ sauce, asian slaw, pickled red onion and carrots, green onions and a poached egg served over rice) and The BQQ Buns (Shredded pork glazed with our spicy garlic ginger BBQ sauce, house-made pickled red onions and Japanese coleslaw.)

Anise Pho

Today’s recommendation has a 4.7 star rating from google and let me start by saying, that is accurate! It’s located right on Glenwood ave in Downtown Raleigh. When I found myself at Anise Pho, I was originally suppose to be going to a restaurant next door, however it was midday and during the week and with me being new in town I ended up showing up to the restaurant when it was closed (most places downtown open in the evening) and Anise Pho was open, so I decided to give it a try. I am soooooo glad I did!!

From the time I stepped foot in the cozy sit down eatery, to the time I payed and walked out the door it was a start to finish pleasant experience. The food was sooo yummy, and there was something about the Homeyness of it all that just added to the experience. It could have been the burst of happiness when I found bubble tea on the menu. (which by the way, absolutely refreshing and delicious!!!!) Not to mention the customer service 10/10! The lady who was serving was sooo extremely kind and sweet and really made sure we had what needed and wanted. I look forward to visiting and trying more things on the menu.

Paleteria La Michoacana Premium

Today’s sweet treat is one you won’t want to miss trying! Located right in the Raleigh area, Paleteria La Michoacana, is a home for colorful, tasty, and fresh Mexican treats! It seriously does not get more authentic than this. Don’t speak Spanish? No problem. There are bright pictures of almost every (if not every) item on the menu. You can basically point to whats calling to you and it will be made to ordered just like the picture!

Mangonadas

I ordered a Mangonada, fresh mango topped with Tajin and Chamoy. A refreshing balance of sweet and spice! It was soooooo delicious. In addition to treats like the one above, they also serve various ice cream flavors, popsicles, and smoothies. This is definitely a place I look forward to going to again to try more Mexican Treats to satisfy my sweet tooth.
